Please consider me in your search for a Grant Writer as advertised in the August edition of Alberta Native News.
As my attached resume shows, I have extensive experience as a Communications Officer, News Reporter and Marketing Manager, where I demonstrate the ability to produce writing tailored for different audiences and to meet specific needs.
I am currently homeless and living at the Hope Mission’s Herb Jamieson Centre and working with staff to secure permanent housing, so I guess I could argue that I am, sadly, living the urban experience of many of the city’s Indigenous people.
This experience and my desire to improve conditions for Edmonton’s homeless and to inspire the world (you might as well think big, right?) has led me to file my Notice of Intent to run for Councilor in Edmonton’s O’day-min Ward in the upcoming civic election. You can read my election platform on my website page where, among other things, I am calling for an increase in the deposit paid on bottles, a vital source of income for many of Edmonton’s homeless.
Please note, as well, my experience as a Care Giver with the Prince George Association for Community Living (AiMHi) and as a Janitor for the Mustard Seed, positions where I interacted, in many cases, with Indigenous people.
Through the support of the Hope Mission, I am scheduled to meet with the Greater Edmonton Foundation, October 2nd, as part of the process of securing housing and I am also waiting to meet with Vista Housing. Should I secure employment with your organization, I would seek my own immediate accommodation.
As requested, I attach links to two written pieces, a profile of Beatrice Medicine, written while a Communications Officer at The University of Calgary and a more recent piece offering my services to GenWell, an organization that describes itself as “Canada’s Human Connection.”
The position describes sounds like an exciting opportunity to contribute to a better local community and world, and I hope you feel I might be able to help your organization in filling that role.
