Please consider me in your search for a Communications Manager. I have a broad range of communications and editorial experience and the creative ability to produce videos, photos, editorial content, presentations and other communications to forward your goals.

As a Communications Officer for The University of Calgary, I worked with the Public Affairs Office and senior administration officials to produce communications for staff, media, stakeholders and the public. My editorial duties included profiling new additions to the university and my article on Beatrice Medicine, is one example.

In Vancouver, I served as Western Editor for Canadian Forest Industries Magazine, where I wrote about all aspects of the business including harvesting, milling and safety. As Marketing Manager for Campbell River forest equipment manufacturer, T-MAR Industries, I was placed in charge of internal and external communications. In that position, I produced newsletters, advertising, product brochures and developed and analyzed customer surveys in support of company initiatives. I also have experience as a reporter, writing articles for BC Business Examiner and Nanaimo Free Press, among others. In all of these positions, I supplied supporting photographs and, in some cases, my design skills using desktop publishing programs and Adobe Illustrator.

While operating my Val-Pak Direct-Mail advertising business, I traded advertising with the local radio station to run my own radio show, The Val-Pak Hour. A sample of my “radio voice” can be found on my video application for the position of Traveling Ambassador for AirTransat, which I Produced in Dubai.

After 10 years of teaching overseas, I returned to Canada in 2012 and, except for a brief period, I have been in Prince George since 2013. In my positions as a care worker I worked with adult men and women of many ethnic backgrounds, including Indigenous people. At this time, I also developed my website jamesmillercreative.com. As an artist, I use my site to promote my art and as a forum to post my ideas, many of which are spiritual in nature. My work The Spirit of Prince George, 2015 is one example.
