Please consider me in your search for a Junior Artist.
As practicing artist and art educator my entire adult life, I have used many different materials and media and one of my primary concerns has always been to make sure the creation is properly protected for its environment.
Consider the sign I designed and painted for Northside Automotive in Prince George. Knowing the sign would be subjected to hours of daylight and freezing temperatures, I selected Rust-Oleum Metallic Accents Latex Paint and after carefully preparing the surface, I used and X-Acto knife to cut out my design before hand-painting the sign. I applied many layers of Rust-Oleum’s Metallic Accents Water-Based Clear Topcoat, to seal the surface.
I used the same paint and sealing material on my wood-carving Teach Only Love. I am proficient in a number of tools, especially those for wood working. I used a laminate trimmer, multi-purpose saw and belt sander on this work with many hours of sanding with fine tools.
In addition to my technical skills, I can offer my creative input into concepts, murals, sculptures and other visual design projects. Consider my mock-up for a Holocaust Memorial to be built in Ottawa.
I am familiar with working on a large or small scale, as demonstrated by my commissioned work, The Spirit of Prince George, 2015 and my piece, Believe, featuring my vocals and music.
I use Illustrator and Photoshop to design everything from quilts, to album covers to t-shirts.
I do hope these samples demonstrate to you my suitability for this position. You can find an exhaustive look at my talents on my web page application for Studio Technician at MacEwan University.
Thank you for considering this application. I am in camp from September 19, 2022 until I return to Edmonton from September 28th until October 10th. If you wish to call while I am in camp, please feel free to do so.
If you’re looking at the web page version of my cover letter, I include one final sample. This one a work made from dollar-store night lights entitled Lifestar.
