Exec Assistant – Hilah Ayers

I see you are looking for an Executive Assistant – Event Coordinator to fill a diverse, creative role in serving your organization and its clients. Allow me to offer my services.

A quick look at my resume and, more importantly, the webpage I’ve created in support of this application, will tell you I offer an incredibly diverse background in employment and life experience, demonstrating organizational skills, self-reliance, problem solving and drive.

My love of music encompasses a life-long passion for contemporary music and, more recently, my active involvement in writing and recording. One of my great loves is the Vancouver Island Music Festival in Courtenay, which I have attended numerous times. As previously mentioned, I believe I have the organizational skills needed and, while I don’t have experience coordinating volunteers, I do have experience being one.

My approach to motivating staff, volunteers and your community would be to build a consensus based on my belief that leadership comes through example, and that example would be one of inclusion and respect, both for the person and for the ideas being presented. That was certainly my approach to classroom management in my over 10 years as a teacher of primarily art and mathematics. That belief in inclusion is demonstrated in my music video, Brand New Song.

You’re looking for someone to promote your festival, its artists and other aspects of your business and I believe my creative communications skills could play a vital role in that initiative. I’ve served The University of Calgary as a Communications Officer, the Nanaimo Business Examiner and Canadian Forest Industries Magazine in a business writing capacity and Campbell River’s T-MAR Industries as a Marketing Manager. In these, and other communications roles, I’ve developed marketing strategies, written newsletters, organized events and produced posters, brochures, videos and other marketing materials.

My video application for the position of Traveling Ambassador for Air Transat, shot in Dubai, highlights my content creation, video editing and music writing skills.

Returning to Canada in 2012, I worked with a web designer to launch my WordPress website and have continually added content featuring my writing, photography, art, music, graphic design and video production. Moving to Prince George in 2013, I completed a major outdoor installation, The Spirit of Prince George, 2015, (2014) for Timberspan Wood Products and also submitted a number proposals for art commissions, including one to build a Holocaust memorial in Ottawa.

I believe my experience as a Licensed Property Manager in Prince George and Courtenay directly relates to the responsibilities identified in working with tenants at the Hilah Ayers Wilderness RV Park.

Since moving to Edmonton in April 2021, I worked in the custodial field; last winter in homeless shelters for the Mustard Seed Organization and more recently for Horizon North in fire base camps and the company owned Iosegun Lake Lodge. After completing the requisite training, I served as an Industrial Janitor at the MEG Energy site at Christina Lake and, most recently, I’ve been able to demonstrate my love of food working as a Second Cook.

Thank you for your time taken to review my application. I believe I am an excellent candidate. Accordingly, let me suggest we meet to discuss the contribution I could make to your organization in filling the role of Executive Assistant.
