Please consider me in your search for an Education Manager for the Funding Verification Unit for Program Unit Funding and Severe Disabilities Funding.
It seems to me you are looking for an intelligent individual and a great communicator; someone who can come to a deep understanding of PUF and SDF, and inspire those charged with verifying applications to make logical, compassionate and consistent decisions. That deep understanding will also be used to communicate the essence of PUF and SDF verification and their funding rationale to a variety of audiences, including, clients, stakeholders, team members, staff from other ministries and others.
I believe I am the individual you seek.
My Education Degree from the U of A, led me to over 10 years of teaching in seven different countries. In several instances, I had students with disabilities within my mainstream classrooms. I know what a challenge this can be. This experience was further augmented in my work as a Residential Care Worker for the Prince George Association for Community Living and Thomson Community Services, where I served in residences with clients with varying degrees of physical and cognitive challenges.
While overseas, I developed curricula, educational materials and assessments for many different educational programs including the Irish Leaving Certificate, IGCSE and PYP, MYP and Diploma Baccalaureate.
When I returned to Canada in 2012, I launched my website jamesmillercreative.com to highlight my creative talents in writing, painting, photography, videography, music and graphic design. My art emphasizes the positive and my Happy Face Series is a good example.
My communications background includes time spent as a Communications Officer for The University of Calgary, a Writer/Editor for various commercial publications, a Marketing Support Specialist and as the Owner/Operator of a direct-mail advertising franchise.
You seek the following APS competencies:
Systems Thinking: Operating within an educational team, I helped develop a curriculum, write a series of mathematics workbooks and develop a set of assessments for Vocational Mathematics for the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute in Al Ain, UAE.
Drive for Results: As a teacher of Diploma Art, I worked with my students preparing art and supporting materials for submission to the International Baccalaureate for final year, external art adjudication.
Develop Self and Others: As Team Leader, I worked with an architect to submit a Letter of Interest to submit a design for a Holocaust Memorial for Ottawa.
Build Collaborative Environments: As Owner/Operator of Val-Pak Direct Mail Advertising, I worked with external businesses to develop, implement and analyze advertising promotion performance while also working with my sales team, production facilities and post-office to deliver advertising to homes.
Let me sum up again by saying I believe I am an ideal candidate for this position. Accordingly, let me suggest we meet to discuss the contribution I could make to the Learner Services Branch in filling the role of Education Manager.
